The four oared barges succeeded in rowing their race in spite of the rough water. Three crews started, made up as follows: First crew-Sroke R. O. Hodges '99; 3, E. G. Adams Sp.; 2, H. F. Whitney '99; bow, F. C. Wilson '99; coxswain, L. F. Buff 1900. Second crew-Stroke, R. McC. Marsh '99; 3, C. S. Butler '99; H. James '99; bow, J. Ware '99; coxswain, L. Luquer '99. Third crew-Stroke, T. D. Parker 2G.; 3, R. Fayerweather '99; 2, F. J. Snite '99; bow, H. M. Hall '99; coxswain, F. G. Goodridge '99. The first crew won rather easily and the third crew came in second. No time was given.
The form of all the crews was very ragged throughout the race. None of them knew how to start well, and, even making allowance for the roughness of the water, splashed to a needless extent. Considering, however, that they were made up of almost untrained men, the showing made was very creditable.
