The annual election of officers, held yesterday afternoon by the Weld Boat Club, resulted as follows: President, L. G. Coleman '99; secretary, Fullerton Blake '99; members of the governing board, F. Dobyns '98 and W. H. Conroy '99. The four crew captains-P. Nichols 2L., H. McBurney '98, P. Davis '99, T. W. Pierce 1900-are members of the governing board, ex officio. The treasurer is elected by the board after consulting the trustees.
The condition of the club is very properous this spring. There are one hundred and fifty members, as opposed to thirty-nine last year, and, though improvements have been made in the floats and house, the treasury is still in good shape. Much credit is due to Mr. W. S. Youngman and his associates for this change.
This summer the position of the clubhouse will be changed slightly, to make room for the Charles River improvements, and in addition to the fact that the front will then be parallel to the river, the float facilities will be increased. A movement is on foot, supported by Professor Ames and several graduates, including Messrs. Bancroft, Dana, and Storrow, to secure the appointment of a regular instructor in rowing, who shall hold the same position in regard to rowing affairs that Mr. Lathrop holds in regard to other branches of athletics.
