Mr. J. R. Baldwin, of the class of 1877, died at his residence in Lynn yesterday morning. He was born in Lynn, May 10, 1854.
After graduating from Harvard with high honors, Mr. Baldwin entered the law office of Judge Endicott, of Salem, where he remained until he was admitted to the bar three years later.
In 1882 he was elected a member of the State Senate and re-elected the two following years. In 1886 he was elected mayor of Lynn and in 1889 city solicitor. Mr. Baldwin ranked among the leading lawyers of the Essex County bar.
