CREW NOTES.

College Crew Begins Work-Changes in the 'Varsity.

Yesterday, Wrightington and Biddle, who have been with the 'Varsity, were sent back to the College crew. Marvin and McDuffie, who have been rowing in the Sophomore boat, were taken to the 'Varsity. Marvin was put in at bow and J. H. Perkins, who is again having trouble with his side, was replaced at 5 by McDuffie. On the second stretch Donald replaced McDuffie. Biddle will return to the Freshman boat today. The entire make-up was: Stroke, J. F. Perkins; 7, Goodrich; 6, Thomson; 5, McDuffie, Donald; 4, Sprague; 3, Whitbeck; 2, Bull; bow, Marvin. Before the practice Mr. Lehmann took Perkins and Marvin, Donald and McDuffie, out in the pair-oar.

The men who were retained from the class crews to form the College crew, as previously announced, rowed together for the first time. This crew will have the same coaching as the 'Varsity and will be in strict training from now on. The men who will go to Poughkeepsie as substitutes will be chosen from the College boat.

Mr. Lehmann seated the men in the following order: Stroke, Boardman; 7, Biddle; 6, Blake; 5, Hollister; 4, Donald; 3, Wrightington; 2, Swift; bow, Dibblee. Moulton has been obliged to stop rowing, owing to a strained stomach muscle.

H. Adams, stroke of the '98 class crew, was to have rowed at 2 in the College crew, but could not do so because he had been exposed to measles by the illness of his brother, J. Adams, bow of the '98 crew. Swift of the '99 boat, therefore, rowed at 2. Wrightington is acting as captain.

The new English shell, built by Claspar, of Putney, arrived at the boat house yesterday afternoon. The shell came over on the ship Virginia and has been in Boston for a week past. It was unpacked yesterday and found to be in first-class condition. It will be rigged today.
