Work on the Soldiers Field improvement was started yesterday. The east section of seats was moved to its position on the new football field. The cross sectioning preparatory to the levelling of the ground will be begun today.
All the games in the scrub baseball series scheduled for yesterday afternoon, except that between the "Hot Hands" and the "Cold Hands" were postponed on account of the rain. The one game played resulted in a victory for the "Cold Hands" by the score of 26 to 13 at the end of five innings.
The '99 class and Weld crews practiced starts up river yesterday. The Weld crew got away quickest on the first start, and on the last, owing to a bend in the river they obtained an advantage over the class crew. On the other three starts the class crew gained about half a length.
