For several reasons it will be a source of satisfaction to Harvard men that Poughkeepsie has been finally decided on for the place of the University boat race of June 25. This course, on account of its natural advantages, is considered the best of those taken into consideration for a four mile race; it is the one preferred by Cornell, and every possible concession should be made to the crew of that university on account of its sportsmanlike conduct in agreeing to row two races so near together; and best of all, the selection of Poughkeepsie for the race shows that absolutely no attention has been paid to the numberous "financial inducements" which have been offered to the managers by the boards of trade of rival towns. This money bargaining carried on to atrract a race between the crews of different universities is extremely distasteful to those who have the best interests of rowing at heart.

With the race so far from Cambridge it is to be hoped that it will be rowed late enough in the day to allow those who stay through Class Day to be present.
