The 'Varsity track games were held on Holmes Field yesterday afternoon under most favorable conditions of track and weather. The time were fast and two Harvard records were broken. In the half-mile Hollister lowered his old record of 1m. 56 4-5s. to 1m. 54 2-5s., and Grant clipped 1 1-5 seconds off the previous record of 4m. 28 1-5s. in the mile. Both men were paced, however, on their last quarter.
The most interesting of the field events was the high jump, in which W. G. Morse '99 and C. J. Paine 'Jr. '97, tied for first place. The pole vault was postponed on account of darkness to next Friday at 3 p. m. T. E. Burke, of the B. A. A., ran an exhibition quarter mile in 50 2-5s.
