The thanks of those interested in track athletics are due to Mr. Wells for his establishment of the "quarter mile cup" to be competed for annually by students. The existence of such trophies can not fail to make the long period of training for the Mott Haven team not only more attractive but also more useful in giving practice in competition, and thus arousing more interest in the work of the team. In this same connection, we should be glad to see the shot putting contests which were held this spring made regular annual events, for though they did not bring all the improvement desired, they aroused some interest in the event and showed just how strong or weak the team is in this department.

It is of the greatest importance at present for all men who have shown any promise this spring to work regularly every day. The prospect of dual games to be held about the middle of May between the team of the Institute of Technology and a second Harvard team makes it possible and necessary for nearly double the usual number of track athletes to compete for the University this spring.
