About twenty men are now trying for the Senior crew. The work is still the same as before, consisting of chest-weight and dumb-bell drill, followed by a run, in addition to the regular work on the machines. The material for the crew is very good physically, but as yet the rowing is poor and the time is bad. Nevertheless the men are rapidly improving and by the time they go on the river they will probably be in good shape. Of the new men who have come out, Scattergood, Sullivan and Kidder are the most promising and they are showing daily improvement. Yesterday the crew was coached by Duffield, assisted by Orton, coxswain of the crew.
The first crew was made up as follows: Stroke, Stevens; 7, Dexter; 6, Hovey; 5, Duffield, Sullivan; 4, Sleeper, Kidder; 3, Sullivan, Rantoul; 2, Scattergood; bow, Rantoul, Lovering.
