The Sophomore crew squad now consists of about twenty-five men, most of whom will be kept until the crew goes on the river this spring. As yet the men have rowed in no regular order, though some of last year's eight are back in their old positions. The material for a winning crew is excellent this year, and when the crew gets on the river it should improve rapidly under regular coaching. As yet, however, the men have not got hold of the new stroke fully and there are several faults as a result. The men are apt to drop over at the full reach, instead of taking their body reach during the recover and then turning back quickly.
Yesterday the crew went into strict training for a week and a half or two weeks, the object being to keep the men in good condition without getting them stale.
The coaching is done for the most part by Dibblee, assisted by Boardman and Marvin, of last year's crew.
Yesterday the first crew rowed in the following order: Stroke, Samson; 7, Duffield; 6, Swift, Donald; 5, Whitbeck; 4, Holden; 3, Schlesinger, Simonds; 2, Blake, Coleman; bow, Watson.
