The Pierian during the last half-year has been very successful. There are now fifty-four active members and about twenty others in the University who are at any time willing to help the orchestra. Four concerts were given this fall, all but one of which were for charitable purposes. The playing of the orchestra has improved decidedly over that of last year. On account of the omission of the fall concert this year, the finances of the Sodality are not in as good condition as they have usually been, but it is hoped that the large number of concerts to be given this spring will more than repair the deficit.
Two concerts are to be given next week. On Wednesday, Feb. 24, a concert will be given in Channing Church, Newton, in connection with the Radcliffe Glee Club and Master Henry Donlan, the boy soprano of the Appleton Chapel choir. It will be in aid of the Newton Kindergarten, and will be followed by a reception.
On Friday evening, Feb. 26, the Pierian will give a concert in Copley Hall, Boston, under the auspices of the College Club of Boston. The College Club is composed of graduates of the female colleges of New England.
