Although it is to be regretted that the original plans for a Phillips Brooks Memorial have had to be modified to such an extent, we are glad that Harvard is to commemorate one of her greatest graduates in a creditable manner. Any institution to provide for some merely sectarian need we are sure would not have found favor in the eyes of Bishop Brooks, but to have a religious house at Harvard on a non-sectarian basis was a plan which he heartily approved of and encouraged. In its acquisition the religious societies are most fortunate and it is incumbent upon them to see that the memorial answers the purpose for which it was intended, to increase the fellow-sympathy of co-workers.
