Three years of progress in many different lines of charity are now to the credit of those who have identified themselves with the Student Volunteer Committee and its work. Entirely unsectarian in its influence the committee personifies the true Harvard spirit, and has entered into a broad field of endeavor with commendable earnestness.

Such an organization under a thoroughly competent leader can influence what might otherwise prove abortive attempts at charitable endeavor, and it is in the exercise of its function of directing individual effort along the most beneficial lines that the committee has proved most efficient. Those who have joined in the work have the satisfaction of knowing that they have brought credit on themselves, the committee and their University. Let their fellows who for various reasons can not or do not take an active part, lend the workers a pecuniary hand at least, for the most serious check on the committee is at present a lack of funds. Further progress should not be thus forbidden.
