The figures which appear today as to registration in the University, though incomplete, offer a most gratifying bit of concrete evidence as to the consistent progress Harvard is making from year to year. Each increase in numbers has been considerable, and better than that, the increase seems to be constant, so that one is justified in regarding the growth, not as fluctuating and therefore accidental and dependent on outside influences, but as a steady expansion, caused by the constantly growing prestige of the institution.

The unceasing labor which is being expended upon the various departments, is so quietly carried out that few realize its extent. It is just such development, painstaking, and without ostentation, which brings success in the long run. More young men are coming to Harvard each year because her field of influence is becoming broader, and her system of eduation more efficient and better known to the public.
