Haughton kicked off to Yale's 30 yard line. Corwin plunged through tackle for five yards. Harvard blocked McBride's kick. Hazen fell on the ball on Yale's 45 yard line. McBride kicked out on Harvard's 15 yard line. Warren gained four yards through Chamberlain.

Dibblee gained 15 yards around right end. Warren no gain. Bouve failed to gain. Yale held for downs on Harvard's 35 yard line. McBride could not gain and kicked over the line Haughton kicked to Harvard's 40 yard line, where Yale fumbled the ball and Cabot fell on it. Dibblee then made three yards through left tackle and followed it by another three. Cabot hurdled through tackle for three yards on tackles back. Swain plunged through, but Yale was given the ball at middle of the field for offside play.

Chamberlain punted to Haughton who advanced the ball to the 30 yard line. Warren made 15 yards around Hall. Dibblee eight yards around right end Yale's ball for offside play in the middle of the field. Haskell blocked McBride's punt and Cabot fell on the ball. Warren again ran 20 yards around Hall. Yale then held for downs on the 35 yard line. Another of McBride's punts was partially blocked and Garrison fell on it.

Yale's ends seem to be as weak as they have been represented. Warren was slightly injured but quickly resumed play. Dibblee was thrown back five yards but in the next play circled Hazen for 15 yards. Warren lost ground but Haughton kicked finely to Yale's 15-yard line McBride punted to Dibblee who advanced the ball to the middle of the field.

Swain failed to gain through the line. Haughton kicked to McBride, who was downed by Swain on the 35-yard line. Benjamin tried left end for no gain, tackled strongly by Warren. DeSaulles fumbled and Yale punted to Dibblee in Harvard's 35-yard line.

Warren lost on left end. Haughton kicked to McBride and Swain tackled him on the 45 yard line. Corwin went through Donald for five yards and added four more on the next play. Yale's mass plays against Donald gained steadily. Donald and Swain were tried continually for small gains and Yale advanced steadily by their mass plays up to Harvard's 12 yard line where the ball was fumbled and Swain fell on it.

Harvard gained their distance on end plays but Yale's end showed better form and forced Haughton to punt. McBride returned to the 20-yard line. After several ineffectual attempts at rushing Haughton kicked beautifully to the centre of the field. McBride kicked, the ball rolling over the line. On the free kick McBride got the ball. Desaulles then made 15 yards around Cabot on a trick. At this stage Warren was hurt and his place was taken by Parker. Benjamin fumbled and Moulton got the ball.

Dibblee then gained five yards twice in succession around Hazen.

The half ended with the Harvard team fresh and in good spirits. Harvard's ball on the 40 yard line.

The feature of the first half was Haugton's punting, which almost equalled McBride's, the latter having the strong west wind in his favor.

Between the halves the Harvard band played inspiring music. Both sides of the field were comparatively quiet, but the general comment seemed to be that Harvard would score in the second half. The wind freshed up considerably, and, as before, blew straight down the field.
