The fall concert was a great success from beginning to end. A most responsive and enthusiastic audience filled Sanders Theatre from the doorways to the windows in the gallery and applauded the different members of the eleven, Mr. Lehmann and Mr. Willis, old John and others as they came in. After singing "Johnny Harvard," the Glee Club sang "Here's to Good Old Yale," which was applauded. H. M. Woodruff '98 answered an encore to his solo with an original verse hoping to see as many graduates present in '99.
In the intermission Coach Forbes led a cheer for Yale. Cheers were given for the eleven, for Cabot, and for Forbes, when the eleven went out, and after the concert was over. Mr. Lehmann was also cheered, and made a short speech in which he denied the statement that Englishmen could teach American universities courtesy and good feeling.
The concert was successful from beginning to end, especially the Mandolin Club recitals and the solos. In addition to the programme announced the following encores were given: Glee Club-"Mulligan Musketeers," "The Bargemen," (solo by F. A. Turner '99), "Drinking," (solo by G. R. Osborne 1900); "Rhine Wine Song," (in place of "The Three Glasses"). Banjo Club: "Up the Street"; "Cake Walk." Mandolin Club: "Serenata," Tostoi; "Bolero;" "El Capitan."
