Unfortunately the Freshman football men have not come out for their team in as large numbers as was at first promised. When there are only two or three freshmen on the 'Varsity squad and it is to a man's advantage in every way to come out and try for his class team, and, what is more important still, when the athletic reputation of the class is at stake, there is absolutely no reason why every Freshman who is physically able to play football should not be on Soldiers Field every afternoon. That the squad is not as large as it could and ought to be is quite evident. Furthermore it is foolish to suppose that the incoming class is not up to the average in an athletic way. There must be more available football material, and as it is all needed by the coaches in their development of the eleven as well as to make the team a representative one, it is to be hoped that more material will turn out at once.
