The 'Varsity practice yesterday afternoon consisted of two ten-minute halves, one with the second eleven and one with the Freshmen. In the first half the plays were run off with plenty of snap and the backs and ends especially played hard and fast. The second half showed the 'Varsity playing carelessly and indifferently. The line-up was changed a number of times, most of the changes being made at end and quarter, so that this perhaps unsettled the team as much as anything else.

In the first half the ball was always in the second eleven's territory, as with the exception of Hanavan's run around Cochrane's end, and a few rushes by Bull, the second could gain little ground. Three touchdowns in all were scored during the ten minutes of play. Two of these were more or less sensational, and were due directly to the interference which swung into shape on the end plays much better than usual. The first touchdown was scored by Dibblee on a 90-yard end run. He was cleverly blocked off for past Litting and then had practically a clean field, although he was fruitlessly pursued by Hanavan to the goal line. The second touchdown was a repetition of the first, Dibblee breaking through the field for a 40-yard run, and then passing the ball to Lewis who covered the remaining distance. The last touchdown was also scored by Lewis on a 25-yard run, after the ball had been advanced well into the second's territory by steady driving at the line. Bull's work at left half was very commendable. He broke up the interference in good style and tackled and blocked off well for his backs. Hatch also tackled strongly for the second.

In the second half the playing was loose and ragged and only interesting from the point of view of the excellent game put up by the Freshmen. Their line, though weak on the defensive, was aggressive enough when rushing was resorted to, to erable their backs to make fair gains. Reid outpunted Warren aided by the wind, and the Freshmen ends were as good if not better than the 'Varsity's in getting down the field on punts. In this particular, Whitney especially excelled. Peyton played a strong game against Haskell, succeeding near the end of the half in opening a large hole through which Kendall staggered 15 yards, for a touchdown. Daly kicked an easy goal and the half ended, without the 'Varsity's having scored.

Bouve and Donald were out again yesterday but did not indulge in any of the severe practice. Cabot, Moulton and Shaw were also on the field but were not given any work. Swain, Sawin and Perkins are now the only men on the injured list and it will probably be a matter of only a few days before they will again be in condition to play.

The game between the Freshmen and Phillips-Andover, scheduled for today, has been cancelled.
