There has been a very noticeable increase lately both in the activity and number of members at the Weld boat house. The Freshmen eights, the four oared working boats, and the regular Weld eight are rowing regularly every afternoon. The process of weeding out the Freshman candidates continues, and the men now rowing show very fair form. The four-oars are practicing consistently for their race which takes place early in November.
The regular Weld eight is rowing well together. Under the coaching of Donovan and Youngman they are improving, especially in their watermanship. Attempts have been made to secure for them a race this fall, but it hardly seems possible. The order of the crew at present is as follows: Stroke, Sampson; 7, Harding; 6, Millard; 5, Duffield; 4, Coonley; 3, Schlesinger; 2, Parker; bow, Sherburne. Sampson has been appointed temporary captain of the crew.
