There are twenty-six candidates for the Pennsylvania freshman crew, who are being coached daily by Mr. Ward.
Rumors to the effect that Princeton and University of Pennsylvania will meet on the gridiron this fall, are untrue.
Last Saturday, Mr. Agassiz, Dr. Woodworth and Dr. Mayer set out on a research trip to the Fiji Islands to study the coral reefs in that neighborhood. It is expected that they will remain there throughout the winter. During Dr. Woodworth's absence, Dr. Castle will take his courses at the Museum.
A scrub football team from 1900 was defeated by the St. Marks's School team yesterday, by a score of 4 to 0. The scrubs were strong in the line, but were unable to gain much ground through their backs. On the whole they put up a good game for a team that had never played together before.
