A stated meeting of the Board of Overseers was held yesterday at 50 State street, Boston. Mr. Solomon Lincoln, President of the Board, presided. It was voted to concur with the President and Fellows in their votes appointing Henry Lee '36, of the Board of Overseers, William Sturgis Bigelow '71, and Arthur Astor Carey '79, trustees of the Museum of Fine Arts for one year from Jan. 1, 1897; also in appointing Lewis Edward Gates, A. B., '84, assistant professor of English for five years, from Sept. 1, 1896.
The annual reports of the president and treasurer were presented. The report of the committee on the Veterinary School was presented. A communication from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences upon the subject of giving greater public distinction to the highest scholarship in the undergraduate department was presented and referred to the committee on government.
