The semi-finals in the Massachusetts State tennis tournament were played at Longwood yesterday morning between M. D. Whitman '99 and Y. M. Edwards and G. L. Wrenn, Jr., '96, and L. E. Ware '99. Whitman won the first set of bis match very easily, his opponent not getting a game. In the second Edwards braced up, but when the score was tied at 5-5, Whiman succeeded in winning the next game and match.
The match between Wrenn and Ware was much better played and was very close. Wrenn got the first set, 6-3; then Ware took the second, 6-4, by good smashing at the net. In the third set both men improved, and the tennis was remarkably good. Both men ran up on their service, and each won on his service until the score was 3-3. Wrenn won the next two games. Ware got the ninth, although Wrenn was in one point of the match four times in this game, but then Wrenn won the next game and the set, 6-4.
The finals between M. D. Whitman '99 and G. L. Wrenn, Jr., '96, will be played on Saturday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock.

M. D. Whitman '99 beat Y. M. Edwards, 6-6, 6-5.
G. L. Wrenn, Jr., '96, beat L. E. Ware '99, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
