"AIDA" at the Castle Square Theatre is one of the most magnificent operatic spectacles ever seen in Boston. The remarkable fact about the production is that the prices remain 25 and 50 cents for all seats, while the cost of staging the piece was twice that for any other Castle Square opera. These artists were engaged at enormous salaries: Mary Linck, Anna Lichter, Fatmah Diard, William Mertens, Charles O. Bassett, C. William Schuster, W. H. Clarke, John Beall. It is not surprising that the patronage of the week has been very large, and patrons have been enthusiastic in their praise of the manner in which Verdi's work is staged. Next week the same company of singers will take up "Rigoletto." The production will be a new one at the Castle Square, and the management promise a show equal in every respect to "Aida."
The patrons of this stock company, now well along in their second year of performances, are fortunate indeed in being able to hear the best operas sung by a capable company at low prices. It takes but one visit to the Castle Square to determine the worth of the entertainment there.
