Rev. W. W. Fenn of Chicago conducted the service in Appleton Chapel, last evening, choosing as his text, John, xiv, 6; "I am the truth"
Truth, said Mr. Fenn, is personal. It may be of three kinds: truth of sincerity of thought; truth which lies in the agreement between the individual thought and the general opinion of mankind; and truth of reality. It is to the last kind that the truth of character belongs.
Since in its entirety truth is personal, the quest for character is the search for truth. He who holds himself above all baseness and seeks for all that is good, is a searcher for truth. The ultimate truth in which the endeavor of the world finds its fullest and best expression is the truth of character.
