Tomorrow evening, in Appleton Chapel, the Rev. Dr. Donald will preach his last sermon as University Preacher. After this service, the close of his term for this year, he will retire permanently from the Board of Preachers.
Dr. Donald has been Preacher to the University since the death of Bishop Brooks, whom he succeeded as rector of Trinity Church, and during his three years of work here, he has won most deservedly the respect and esteem of the student body. The University should feel especially grateful to Dr. Donald for his untiring service, because, while in most cases the preachers come to Cambridge from such a distance that they relinquish perforce their ordinary parish duties, he has devoted himself to the work here in addition to the responsibilities of his own church.
We wish to thank Dr. Donald in behalf of the University, and we hope that his absence from Appleton Chapel will prove to be only temporary after all.
