Harvard won the first dual track games against Pennsylvania on Saturday by a score of 65 to 47. The result of the games was just about what was expected. Harvard was very strong in the track events and won a large proportion of them, while Pennsylvania was superior in the field events. Harvard won through the uniform strength of her team which secured 10 second and 10 third places against 4 of each for Pennsylvania. Each team won 7 first places.
For Harvard the best work was done by Hollister and Bremer. Hollister won both the half mile and quarter mile runs, while Bremer was second in the quarter and first in the low hurdles. In both the dashes, Harvard had everything her own way and took all three of the places.
Roche won the hundred yards dash and Redpath the two hundred and twenty yards dash.
Emmons did unexpectedly well in the pole vault and cleared 10 ft. 8 in.
The plucky running of Fenno also deserves mention. He finished fourth in the mile in a hard race against three exceptionally fast and experienced runners. Soon after he entered the half mile run and again just missed winning a place.
After the games the team was given a dinner and was entertained at Houston Hall.
