'Varsity Baseball.

Yesterday afternoon, after a little preliminary practice, the 'Varsity and College nines played a six inning game which the 'Varsity won 9 to 5. Up to the last two innings, the game was very close, but in the fifth and sixth the 'Varsity developed a batting streak and won easily. The 'Varsity played fairly well, the batting being rather stronger than that of the College Nine. They, although weak at the bat, showed some improvement in team work and fielded well.

The make-up of the teams was as follows:

'VARSITY. COLLEGE.

Cozzens, p. p., Arnold, Gregory.

Pote, O'Malley, c. c., Morton.

T. Stevenson, 1b. 1b., Bouve.

Wrenn, 2b. 2b., Haskell.

Clarkson, s. s. s. s., Holt.

R. H. Stevenson, 3b. 3b., B. Hayes.

Rand, Crawford, l. f. l. f., Chandler.

Haughton, c. f. c. f., Martin.

J. Hayes, r. f. r. f., Beale.

It has at last been decided that the uniforms of the College Nine shall consist of an H. 2nd on the sweater and playing shirt and merely a 2nd on the cap. The College Nine will not have a training table, at least for some time, as the 'Varsity management cannot afford it. The nine has recently been strengthened by the addition of Selfridge '96, who has come down from the 'Varsity. Fitz, however, has left it it to join the Freshman squad.
