To the Editors of the Crimson:

As you decline "to alter" your remarks as to the crew management we would call your attention again to the main statements on which you base your entire article, namely, that the class crews cause no extra expense to the 'Varsity and that the charges made are therefore an "oppression." You imply that the 'Varsity thus makes the class crews a source of revenue. That is not true. The charge of eighty dollars, as we showed yesterday, has not been sufficient to meet the actual extra expenses incurred by the 'Varsity on their account The whole purpose of the charges has always been to reimburse the 'Varsity for money actually laid out for the class crews and the old distinction between entrance fee and expense charges was entirely immaterial and was abolished this year.
