This morning the CRIMSON issues a call for candidates from the freshman class. The proportion of freshmen that have offered themselves thus far as candidates has been small, and for that reason we now issue this special call.

It is often impossible that a freshman should know whether or not he possesses the requisite qualities to be elected an editor of the paper. It is, however, much better that a man should try and find himself deficient than to lose the chance for valuable training and development. It is not necessary that a candidate should have any remarkable literary ability in order to be successful. It is necessary that he should write up articles in a good, clear, style, and that he should be energetic, alert, and willing to work hard if need be for the paper. He should be able to get facts precisely as they are, and to put them into readable shape with some skill. These are the essential qualities that a candidate should possess. To men of the right sort who are really interested in becoming editors of the CRIMSON, the work required will not seem very difficult nor confining.
