Yesterday afternoon the members of last year's Freshman Nine elected J. W. Edmunds captain for this year. Edmunds played centre field on last year's nine.
About twenty men responded to the call for candidates on Soldiers Field. They were principally new men, as most of the men who played last year are now playing with the 'Varsity and College Nines. Battery candidates are badly needed. There was practice in batting and fielding.
