fairly effective, but he was very wild. Lynch was very good for the rest of the game. For English High Cronin caught a good game and Nettleton pitched well until the seventh inning. The rest of the team was decidedly weak in the field.
Ninety-nine went in to bat first. Thompson got his base on balls, but Lynch hit to shortstop forcing Thompson at second and being put out himself at first by a very pretty double play. Morse, the next man, got his base on an error of the right fielder. Robinson hit safely letting in Morse. Davis got his base on balls, took second on a passed ball, and both scored on McCall's hit. McCall was out trying to steal second. For E. H. S., Edwards struck out, Whitney got his base on a missed third strike, and stole second. Riley got his base on balls, took second on a passed ball and both scored on Bogan's hit. Gillis was out to pitcher.
In the seventh inning with the score 8 to 6 in favor of English High, Nettleton went to pieces badly and the Freshmen made seven runs on a base on balls, errors by E. H. S. and hits by Jaffray, McCall, Thompson and Lynch. This ended the scoring as E. H. S. went out in order.
Score by innings:
