For the past few days the 'varsity baseball squad has been practicing on Holmes Field and the nine has, as a whole, showed marked improvement both in fielding and batting. Saturday afternoon, after a little batting practice at the nets, the 'varsity nine played a six-inning game with the college nine. The batteries for the two nines changed places and with the aid of the 'varsity battery the college nine won, 10-4, making 7 runs in one inning off Haughton. The 'varsity nine did not bat nor field so well as on Friday and succeeded in getting but one hit off Cozzens. Pote caught a good game, but hurt his finger and had to retire, Brown taking his place. He will, however, probably start in today. After four innings Cozzens stopped playing, owing to a lame arm, but he too will undoubtedly play today. Beside the regular coaches, J. Highlands '94 and B. Trafford '93 were out, Trafford paying special attention to the first basemen.
