On Saturday afternoon the 'varsity crew went down into the basin for the first time since last fall. The number of candidates has now been reduced to nine, owing to the fact that Jennings has stopped rowing because of sickness. This will be a great loss to the crew as he was considered one of the best men in the boat.
Because of his withdrawal from the crew the order of the men was again changed, Captain Bullard going in at seven, and Hayes and Duffield rowing at five. The men practiced for abot two hours and were coached by Mr. Mumford. During the latter part of the afternoon Mr. Mumford got into the boat and rowed at number five. Saturday's work was the hardest the men have had this year. Following is the order in which they rowed: Stroke, Goodrich; 7, Bullard; 6, Sprague; 5, Duffleld, Hayes; 4, Stillman; 3, Perkins; 2, Hollister; bow, Moulton.
