The Harvard Union was victorious in its debate last night with the Trinity Club of Boston, at the rooms of the latter. The subject was: "Resolved, That we endorse President Cleveland's Venezuela message." The Harvard Union supported the affirmative, being represented by S. P. Delany '96, Charles Grilk '98 and R. M. Alden, Gr. The speakers for the negative were Albert J. Pratt, Arthur S. Leland and Randolph C. Surbridge. The last named speaker represented Harvard in the first debate ever held with Yale.
The debate was very spirited, the Union men showing better preparation than their opponents. The decision of of the house favored the affirmative. Last year the Union was defeated in its debate with the same club.
