Appleton Chapel.

The Rev. Minot J. Savage preached last evening in Appleton Chapel before a large congregation.

Mr. Savage took for his text two passages: Hebrews xii, 27 and 28; and Matthew v, 48. He showed that religion, stripped of its ceremonial and reduced to its essence, the effort of man to get into better relations with the Supreme Power, is a permanent element in human life; and that, furthermore, religion, in this abstract sense, is the one distinguishing characteristic of true manhood.
