The University Glee Club of New York city which was organized March 8, 1894, has commenced the third season and at present rehearsals are held every week. The concerts this year will be held in the concert hall of Madison Square Garden on the evenings of Tuesday, January 16, and Thursday, April 24, 1897.
The club is made up entirely of college graduates and was started for the purpose of bringing together the men of different colleges, who live in New York or the neighborhood, and of encouraging male voice music.
The officers for the present year are: President, J. Edward Weld, Harvard; vice-president, George E. Wood, Columbia; secretary, Noah H. Swayne, Jr., Yale; Treasurer, Burt L. Fenner, Rochester University. Arthur D. Woodruff is conductor of the club, which has a chorus of nearly 60 voices.
