With the two games this afternoon the Harvard football season comes to an end. The 'Varsity eleven has had its usual number of misfortunes and its defeats have been more numerous than heretofore. Still we can not but feel that all Harvard athletics are undergoing a change for the better. The teams are made up of the best material the University affords. The saying that cliques control our teams and that men are inelligible who do not come from New England, is a thing of the past. Our coaching in every branch of athletics has been systematized; the University as a body is showing more enthusiasm and interest than ever before; in short, Harvard's future in athletics is brighter than ever.

This fall our 'Varsity eleven has worked hard and faithfully and whether we win or not today, the team deserves our sincerest gratitude. We have also to thank Messrs. Waters and Newell who have given so much of their time and taken so many pains in coaching the men. If future teams work as conscientiously as Captain Wrightington's we have every reason to believe that before long we shall regain our former position in athletics.

We also wish success to the Freshman eleven. It has also been unfortunate in many ways. It has had practically no support from the class and if it is defeated this afternoon the class will be largely to blame unless the support is better than it has been. This is the last chance this year for Nineteen hundred to show that it is at all interested in its eleven. The class has an opportunity to retrieve itself and to help the eleven win. We are curious to know whether or not the class will attend the game and show its loyalty.
