Freshman Games.

Che annual Freshman games were held on Holmes Field yesterday afternoon and, although no records were broken, the games were interesting on account of the closeness of the contents and the uniformly fair results. The results o the various events show that there is no material in the class of exceptional ability, although several men may develop well eventually.

The quarter mile proved to be the best contested event, the result of the race being in doubt until the finish, when Gould won by a good sprint.

In the high jump A. A. Mason and C. Ratcliffe were tied for second place, the latter winning on the toss.

There was no contest in the pole vault, as the number of entries was not sufficient. One pleasant feature of the games was the despatch and punctuality with which they were conducted.

440 yards dash-First, E. D. Gould; second, Irwin-Marten. Time, 55 1-5s.

220 yards dash-First, J. D. G. Oglesby; second, J. D. Kent. Time, 24 2-5s.

High jump-First, D. J. Flaherty, 5 ft., 5 3-8 in.; second, A. A. Mason, 5 ft., 4 3-4 in.; C. Ratcliffe, 5 ft., 4 3-4 in.

Broad jump-First, D. G. Hubbard, 20 ft., 5 in.; second, D. G. Harris, 19 ft., 4 1-2 in.

Shot put-First, F. A. Edmands, 35 ft., 4 in.; second, R. C. Heath, 35 ft.
