Yesterday afternoon L. E. Ware '99, won the tennis tournament, defeating W. M. Scudder '99, two straight sets in the finals. By winning this tournament Ware secures a place in representing Harvard in singles at New Haven next week. The three men whom Ware defeated in the tournament, E. R. Marvin '99, H. Foster '98, and W. M. Scudder '99, and J. D. Forbes '99, who just returned to College, will play today to see who will be Harvard's third representative in singles. The doubles will also be decided today.
The men who played yesterday were very much handicapped by the bad weather, as the balls were soon too wet and heavy to drive well. R. T. Parke '98, was particularly handicapped, as his game consists largely of swift drives from the back of the court. The match between E. R. Marvin '99, and L. E. Ware '99, was well played by both, although the conditions were so unfavorable. The summary on the day's play is as follows:
First round-R. T. Parke '98, beat H. Ward '00, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
