Yesterday afternoon the '97 squad merely practiced signals and plays, in preparation for the game with the English High School this afternoon. The English High eleven is one of the strongest of the school elevens and the game should be close. Ninety-seven will line up as follows: l. e., Fenno; l. t., Sleeper; l. g., Williams; c., Fitzgerald; r. g., O'Connor; r. t., Johnson; r. e., Rantoul; q. b., Garrison; l. h., Weld; r. h., Carret f. b., Hallowell.
Ninety-eight plays the Lowell Athletic Club at Lowell this afternoon at 3.30. The probable line-up will be: Hoague, c.; Thayer, r. g.; Riggs, l. g.; Rice, l. t.; Holmes, r. h.; Flershem, r. e.; Wadsworth, l. e.; Valentine, q. b.; Scull, l. h.; Gibbs, r. h.; (Tilden) Manning, f. b.
The Ninety-nine team has improved considerably during the past week. Several new men have joined the squad and the practice has been sharper than before. The team goes to Southboro this morning to play St. Marks. The probably line up for Ninety-nine will be as follows: Sherwin, r. e.; Stowell, r. t.; Catlin, r. g.; Fairbank, c.; Lloyd, l. g.; Whitbeck, l. t.; Johnson, l. e.; Farley, q. b.; Davis, r. h. b.; Stowell, l. h. b.; Brown, f. b. Besides the above, Dayton, Gilder, Homans, Thompson and Huntington will be taken. Dayton and Lloyd of the 'Varsity squad are with their class team temporarily.
The Freshmen went through light practice yesterday in preparation for the game with Exeter today. The two elevens practiced signals and then lined up against each other for a few minutes. The playing was loose and slow.
