Much depends on the way the baseball season is opened tonight. A large number of candidates is the first thing to be desired and then the hardest kind of work by every man to the end of the season. That success will follow is something which, though it can not be predicted, the size of the University and the spirit of its members should put beyond a doubt. This spirit is what some newspapers have been trying to hold up to ridicule of late, and they will look to the meeting tonight for an evidence of their view of it. Mr. Scannell's manly and generous letter amply refutes much that has been said concerning the real attitude of Harvard men in the present instance. Let the spirit of the first meeting of the candidates put it beyond a doubt.
