The first game in the dual ice polo league between Harvard and Brown was played yesterday afternoon at Roger Williams Park, Providence, and resulted in a victory for Brown by a score of five goals to one.
The Brown team played a fast game, and their team work was very strong. The Harvard team, on the other hand, with the exception of Stevens, did not play up to their usual form. Their passing was especially poor.
For Brown, Matteson did the best work.
The line-up was as follows:
HARVARD. BROWN.
F. J. Goodridge '98, r. r., Hale.
T. H. Clarkson '99, r. r., Matteson.
E. Stevens '98, c. c., Hunt.
E. F. Clark '97, h.b. h.b., Jones.
C. E. Baldwin '99, g. g., Watson.
The return game will be played on Spy Pond, Cambridge, Feb. 8, and, if necessary, the series will be decided by a third game on neutral grounds.
