The death of Mr. Martin Brimmer takes from the Corporation one of its most valued members, and from Harvard College an honored son and benefactor. It is an inevitable accompaniment of the large growth of the University that those who are most intimately connected with its administration can be but little known to the students except by reputation. But though Mr. Brimmer's personal acquaintance among the students was necessarily limited, his great service to the University, now sadly brought to mind, makes his loss come to all of us as that of a friend.
