The second annual meeting of the Intercollegiate Fencing Association was held at the Racquet and Tennis Club in New York on Saturday. The only teams entered in the tournament were those of Harvard and Columbia. Harvard won by the score of six bouts to three.

Townsend of Columbia and Thacher of Harvard showed the most proficiency with the foils, and their bout was the best of the evening. The Harvard man had apparently saved himself for this bout. Both were wary and cool, Thacher appearing fresher than the Columbia representative. Thacher's thrusts were well calculated and delivered, while Townsend's defence and position were excellent. After four minutes of skilful thrusting and parrying, which evoked much applause, Thacher was declared the winner by a vote of 3 to 2.

Townsend and Parker had a spirited and scientific combat. Parker is a left-handed fencer and able to take care of himself, but was hardly a match for his rival, whose work was more finished.

The Harvard team was composed of A. G. Thacher '97, (captain), J. E. Hoffman '96, and J. P. Parker '96; the Columbia team of F. Townsend, S. A. Tucker and R. D. Graham. The jury consisted of Dr. G. M. Hammond, N. Y. A. C.; Dr. James T. Kemp, Fencers' Club; Alfred Howard, Boston F. C.; Dr. M. J. Echeverria, N. Y. A. C.; and H. K. Bloodgood, Racquet and Tennis Club.
