Harvard had no trouble in defeating Williams on Saturday at Williamstown. The game was rather a poor exhibition of ball playing, for the home nine had changed the positions of several of their men and errors were numerous in consequence. Corey, their substitute pitcher, did as well as could be expected considering the support that he received. For Harvard, Paine pitched steadily for seven innings, when Highlands took his place. Buckman caught him well and his throwing to bases was very accurate. Wrenn and Whittemore both made good stops and Stevenson took everything that came his way without an error. Every man made at least one hit except Burgess, Stevenson having three to his credit including one two-bagger.

Harvard scored first in the second inning, when Hayes began with a double, Rand singled but was caught trying to steal second, Stevenson, Buckman, Paine and Winslow all made hits and three runs came in. In the next inning one run was scored on Wrenn's base on error, his steal of second and Rand's hit.

Three more runs were made in the fifth. Hayes made a single, Rand got a base on balls, Stevenson made a double, and scored on a wild pitch.

Whittemore added a run in the sixth on his hit, a sacrifice and a single by Wrenn.

In the seventh inning Stevenson hit safely and stole second. Buckman and Paine made singles, Winslow got a base on balls and Whittemore reached first on errors. Three runs resulted.

Williams made their four runs on good batting, aided by three bases on balls in the seventh.
