The playing of the nine has improved to such an extent during the past week that it deserves the hearty congratulations of the University. With much to discourage them at the beginning of the season, the men went to work with a will to make their team a good one and to win back the entire confidence of the University, which they could not but feel had been somewhat shaken by the first two games. Every individual player on the nine has put his whole heart into playing his position to the best of his ability, with the result that the team is now a strong one and promises exceedingly well for the rest of the season. The victory over Dartmouth, the playing in the game with Holy Cross, and yesterday's game with Williams, are certainly most encouraging. In all of these games the general play was sharp and the individual work was strong.
Even when the outlook is darkest the students should give the nine loyal, whole-hearted support. What would then perhaps be done from a feeling of duty should now be a pleasure when the outlook is bright. Every student in the University may feel a just pride in the work which the nine has been doing lately, and in the name of the students we offer our congratulations.
