Only one of the two matches in the first round of the doubles was played yesterday. Part of the first round has been completed in the consolation singles. The results of yesterday's matches are as follows:

Field and Valentine beat Thacher and Williams, 6-3, 6-4.
Consolation Singles, Preliminary Round.
Boyden beat Pierce, 8-6, 6-4.
