Rev. P. S. Moxom, of Springfield, preached in Appleton Chapel last night. He spoke about salvation, taking for his text the words of St. Paul: "And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you."
Salvation, Dr. Moxom said, is the process of recovery from sinful disposition and habit, and of development in righteousness. It involves the development of the whole nature, - spiritual, intellectual and physical. It is not attained in bulk, by churches or by groups; each one must work it out for himself. It is won by the spirit of God working in the soul; it is God's achievement and yet man's.
F. W. Thomas L. S., sang "O Give Thanks," Jackson; and the choir sang, "Try me, O God," Roberts; and "The Haven," Barnby.
