Freshman Practice.

Yesterday afternoon the first eleven practiced signals and tried some new plays for a short time and then lined up against the second eleven for practice. White was back at right guard on the first eleven and Catlin was with the second. The play at first was slow, but towards the end of the practice it had more snap.

The first eleven backs played a good game, although fumbling was rather too frequent. The line, on the other hand, was lamentably weak in defensive work, allowing repeated gains to be made by the second. This was especially true of the right side of the line, through which the second eleven's backs plugged for long gains.

The second eleven scored once by steadily pushing the ball up the field, and twice they came within a few yards of doing so. Again and again the backs plunged through Sargent for good gains.

Dibblee and Dayton played well for the first eleven. For the second, Whitbick played an especially good game, breaking through often, and making holes for the second's backs.
