The 'varsity eleven deserves great credit for Saturday's victory over Cornell. The superior physical training which the Harvard players have undergone told against Cornell as it did against Brown; but in both games, after the first half had been closely contested, the men were quick to take advantage of their opponent's weakness and ran up the score with a vim that was gratifying to every Harvard man present.

One feature of the game, however, was annoying in the extreme, and that was the large amount of holding and offside play. During the first half it seemed at times as though the position of the ball changed more through the penalties for these offenses than by the actual plays. Unless these faults are corrected, the game is sure to degenerate into a farce that must be as unsatisfactory to the players as it is exasperating to the spectators. It is fair to expect a marked improvement in this regard before Saturday.
